The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) has opened a public auction of recovered assets, including apartments and parcels of land, inviting interested Kenyans to participate. To obtain a bidding number, potential buyers must place a refundable deposit of KSh 500,000.

The auction is part of the EACC’s mandate to recover assets obtained through corruption, misappropriation or proceeds of crime, and return them to the public coffers. Items to be sold come from previous investigations and plea bargains. The Eastleigh Voice News

How to Participate

  • View the list/catalogue of properties to be auctioned (location, titles, reserve prices).

  • Pay the KSh 500,000 deposit via banker’s cheque or other approved means to get a “bidding number” which gives you access to the auction. The Eastleigh Voice News

  • If successful, pay 10% of the purchase price immediately after winning, then the remaining balance within 60 days. The Eastleigh Voice News

Why This Matters

  1. Investment opportunity: Some of the properties are well located and could offer good returns or use as homes or business premises.

  2. Transparency & Accountability: The EACC aims to show that assets tied to corruption are being reclaimed and sold openly.

  3. Access to ownership: For those who might not get such opportunities often, this auction provides a chance to acquire real estate (apartments or land) via official channels.
