The Kenya Plant Health Inspectorate Service (KEPHIS), a state corporation under the Ministry of Agriculture, is seeking to hire a qualified Accountant (Job Grade KEPHIS 6).

This role involves financial management, accounting, and reporting functions that support Kenya’s agriculture, trade, and food safety sectors.


Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and maintain financial statements and management reports.

  • Oversee budget planning, monitoring, and expenditure control.

  • Process payments, receipts, and reconciliation of accounts.

  • Ensure compliance with the Public Finance Management Act and KEPHIS financial policies.

  • Maintain updated fixed asset registers.

  • Support internal and external audits.

  • Supervise junior accounting staff.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration.

  • CPA (K) or ACCA qualification.

  • Membership with ICPAK is mandatory.

  • At least 3 years of experience in financial management.

  • Knowledge of government financial systems and IFMIS.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • High ethical standards and integrity.
