ODM Secretary-General Edwin Sifuna has reaffirmed his rejection of any attempts to tie the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) to President William Ruto’s 2027 re-election bid. This came hours after Raila Odinga clarified that ODM had not ruled out presenting its own presidential candidate.
Raila, addressing ODM MPs, stressed that the party’s memorandum of understanding with UDA signed in March 2025 does not cover the 2027 elections. He warned leaders against making premature commitments that could compromise ODM’s independence.
Sifuna, who has consistently opposed ODM aligning with Ruto, echoed Raila’s remarks with a short but powerful message on X: “Loud. Clear.”
Saboti MP Caleb Amisi also welcomed Raila’s position, insisting ODM’s grassroots still believe in Baba’s leadership and resilience.
