A major political realignment is underway in Kakamega County ahead of the hotly contested Malava Constituency by-election. Kakamega Senator and Kenya Kwanza stalwart, Boni Khalwale, has officially declared his support for Democratic Action Party–Kenya (DAP-K) candidate, Seth Panyako.

In a public declaration that has sent shockwaves through the region, Khalwale, a key figure in Western Kenya politics, vehemently endorsed Panyako, presenting him as the candidate best suited to serve the interests of Malava residents. Simultaneously, he launched a stinging critique against the Democratic Congress Party (DCP) and its candidate, accusing them of being “outsiders” and “political tourists” with no genuine development agenda for the area.

This move is a significant blow to the DCP and signals a strategic consolidation of forces against the dominant Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) in the region. Khalwale’s endorsement is expected to dramatically influence the voting pattern, making the race a key battleground for influence in Western Kenya ahead of the next general election.
