The five chiefs—Adaw Abdi Mohammed, Mohammed Hassan, Mohammed Nur, Ibrahim Gabow, and Abdi Hassan Suraw—were kidnapped in February while travelling from Wargadud to Elwak in Mandera South. Their ordeal lasted 62 days, after which they were released in April. Citizen Digital+2allAfrica.com+2
Speaking at a security forum (Jukwaa la Usalama) in Elwak, Murkomen praised the chiefs for their courage, resilience, and dedication to duty despite the trauma.
